Not The Type

Authoress Note: The following is meant to be an open letter of encouragement.  It can be applied to any wholesome dream you have, though it’s obviously going to be geared towards dance  For those that don’t know, my dancing has taken a huge hit lately with Tommy’s absence.  And I’m afraid it’s gotten worse because I can say with great certainty that he’s not coming back this time, unlike his previous leave of absence.  Why the people at the studio have never said “He’s/She’s gone.” is something that continually baffles me.  We’re all adults there, so we don’t need to know why, just that it’s happened.  Whatever their reasons, I refuse to try to comprehend it anymore.  Onto the post.

This is dedicated to all the men and women of the US Armed Forces.  Anyone that places their life on the line to keep us safe, regardless of personal character or motivation, has my eternal gratitude.  If the good Lord didn’t have other plans for me, I would’ve been honored to be among you.  Now, I dedicate my pen to you whenever I can.

A Student’s Wish

At first I wanted to use the word goal instead of wish, but I decided not to.  A goal is something you strive for actively.  This particular thing is not something I want to put enormous effort into.  I’ll explain it later.  This was inspired by an encounter I had with one of Tommy’s former students. You Know You’re A Dancer If… (Part II)

Being a dancer is full of quirks.  It tends to invade my life.  This can be good when it promotes health and general happiness.  It can be annoying, or even harmful, when it becomes, dare I say, obsessive.  The extent of my social life, dancing.  My primary thoughts, dancing.  What I look forward to most, dancing.  Ahem, but I am not ashamed. Just A Goal Post

Hey, everyone.  If you noticed the blog’s sidebar during my absence, I was preoccupied with a late spring class for two weeks.  It wasn’t your average two weeks either.  This was what’s known as a “mini-mester”.  A mini-mester is a let’s-shove-all-this-material-down-your-gullet-as-fast-as-we-can-course.  What this meant for me was four hours Monday through Friday of nothing but the material, hands-on exercises, and of course, exams.  Here’s the kicker: it was a computer class.  *Insert gag or other similar noise here*  Don’t get me wrong.  I needed this class to graduate as pretty much everyone these days needs to have a decent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  Fiddling with computers is fun.  Learning about them, not so much.  Anyway, that’s what’s been going on in my life lately.

But, to business.  The family and I will be leaving on our annual summer cruise in exactly one week, so I thought I’d leave y’all with one more post before I go, a goal post. Continue reading

Oh Ballet and Tap, How I Miss Thee!

Authoress’ Note: My last final is going to be on December 10th.  Hopefully, I’ll be able to write more after that.  Oh, and I’m also suffering from a nasty case of writer’s block.

__

I’ve been a tardy blogger.  I primarily blame finals and the fact that I have to get used to this relatively new computer.  I broke my old one when I slipped on the hardwood floor while I was carrying it.  Oh well, it was five years old anyway.

December has barely started and all the radio stations are blasting Christmas music,  decorations are everywhere, and the shoppers never seem to stop.  It’s driving me nuts!  Frankly, Christmas isn’t my favorite holiday in the world, despite the personal, religious significance.  I sincerely hope that I’m not losing my inner child, but the magic seems to have faded.  But, I digress.  This post is partially inspired by Christmas.
